THE MUSEUM LIBRARY

The library has a collection of over 5,000 books and pamphlets, over 1,000 maps, and an archive of donated personal collections and other material.

The Library

The library collections mainly focus on local history, family history and topics relevant to Wells and the Mendip area, from archaeology to the natural environment. These include resources useful for family history or local history research, including censuses, electoral and parish registers, and several trade directories.

Selected digital photographs in the online databases may be viewed in hard copy at the library.

We look forward to helping you with your research.

The library is open during normal museum opening hours. If you wish to use the library facilities we recommend calling ahead to check a library volunteer is on duty. Please contact the librarian for further information or assistance with specific research requests.
