This summer two of our galleries have been closed to the public to allow an exciting refurbishment to take place. Interpretation specialists Far Post Design have helped the museum team to develop the new Wells City Galleries, which will explore the social history of Wells. We are not yet ready to open to the public, but are able to offer a 'sneak-peek' this Saturday 16 September to coincide with Heritage Open Days. Tours will take place at 10am and 1pm and as places are limited we recommend that you book a place via Eventbrite.
The refurbishment is part of a wider project 'Search & Learn' which has received significant support from the National Lottery Heritage Fund. Our project manager will provide a brief introduction to the project before taking you up to the new galleries. Please note that the galleries are on the first floor and there is no lift.
